Civil Jet Aircraft Design

This book represents a comprehensive introduction to the modern process of designing transport aircraft from the preliminary stages of conceptual design to detail design of major aircraft components, including cost analysis and optimization. The three authors ensure a balanced presentation, with viewpoints from an educator, a practicing engineer/designer, and an official from the Civil Aviation Authority, U.K.

One of the main objectives of this text is to introduce students to the procedures and practices of civil aircraft design involving conflicting requirements of performance, quality, safety, and environmental issues. The first part of the text deals with the main elements of the preliminary design process for principal aircraft components of a civil transport, including the parametric methods used to define the baseline design configuration. The second part describes the use of spreadsheet methods in aircraft design on four separate design studies.

Turbomachinery: Design and Theory

Rama S.R. Gorla,«Turbomachinery: Design and Theory»
CRC | ISBN: 0824709802 | PDF | 424 Pages | 2003 Year
Turbomachinery presents the theory and design of turbomachines with step-by-step procedures and worked-out examples. This comprehensive reference emphasizes fundamental principles and construction guidelines for enclosed rotators and contains end-of-chapter problem and solution sets, design formulations, and equations for clear understanding of key aspects in machining function, selection, assembly, and construction. Offering a wide range of illustrative examples, the book evaluates the components of incompressible and compressible fluid flow machines and analyzes the kinematics and dynamics of turbomachines with valuable definitions, diagrams, and dimensionless parameters.
